Keratin Treatment Aftercare: Make It Last

A keratin or smoothing treatment can transform unruly hair, but aftercare is where results are made. The first 72 hours are critical. Avoid washing, tying up or tucking hair behind the ears.

Use sulphate-free, sodium-chloride-free shampoos to preserve the treatment. Avoid salt water and chlorinated pools when possible, and always use a heat protectant before styling.

Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction. Avoid heavy oils and silicone-heavy products that can coat the hair and dull the finish.

With proper care, most smoothing treatments last 8-12 weeks. We recommend a follow-up treatment before frizz returns completely.
